Since the teams started without bases the only objectives the bots had were to capture the bases. The first few bots did go after the control switches, but after that there werent enough valid AIobjectives for the rest of the team to carry out so they started picking invalid objectives. In other words, the bots got bored and starting blowing things up randomly. If this was working correctly the bots would simple do nothing which is what normally happens when there are no objectives.
As soon as they capture 1 of the bases they will stop making this mistake and will work correctly. There was 1 point where this part wasnt working either and bot the would continue to attack neutral bases until they destroyed all of them.
