That being said, there is the chat rooms on irc.dynamix.com that serve as sort of a "local pub" for mappers to shoot the breeze about mapping or anything else. Problem solving rarely goes on there, simply because the percentage of the overall community that is there at any one time is tiny, compared with the thorough exposure to the community your issue gets by posting it in the forums.

The idea of a chat room has been proposed before, Bytor doesn't want to do it because by having a chat room, questions will be asked but won't be available to anyone else to read as well. The answers will get lost in the chat room.
That is why the forums exist and the forums only.
