MicroDEM/ and DEM file

Well not evil, just annoying. I havn't been able to open, look at or even THINK of any DEMs off of the internet, because the tutorials that I have found don't even say how.

Maybe I'm just some kind of moron, but I can't seem to find ANY link that will let me "view" these files.

Am I crazy, or do these thing not exist without having to buy them?

PLEASE to God help me open these elusive DEMons . You can do it in a condecending tone, I don't mind .

Don't worry. I couldn't figure it out either. I never found the functions and ablities listed.

Yes, you need to dl them if u get them from the usgs you will have 2 choices to dl compressed and uncompressed dl the uncompressed, unless you are familiar with the *.gz compression format of which winrar can extract. The uncompressed file will look something like this:

monterey-w.dat

then rename it to:

monterey-w.dem


then u should be able to open it or import it into your aplication, then export it as a image of some type that u can open with your prefered paint aplication.
