is it gonna be for a siege map? an how would you get into the base via drop ship and FF bridge if theres now way to go outside in the first place?

really nice Berk, the base has a T1 look to it, perhaps it is the design and textures. Really cool overall.

make each base seperate if you plan them to be individually placed.. now if you want them to all to be placed exactly in the right spot I would make them and then place them all in one dif.. otherwise you will need to place each one and fine tune them to were you want them.. and for the tunnel part I would advise portals in the bases only.. then place your tunnels in such a way as the tunnel does not intrude into the portaled area. otherwise you will have problems.. then just light up your tunnel with omni lights.. if you go with one piece then it wouldnt matter just use portals as you see fit 
and as far as ideas go.. I usually get the idea form the base I am doing.. I start with some brushes and see where it goes.. I normally have no set plan until the base is well under way.. it could have been a under sea base or a air base.. but it is a huge base as is.. so I figured to keep fps down I would make it entirely indoors..
and to really go for the gusto I may make a dome in 3ds max with the sky imprinted on the underside of the dome so it will block out the sky..
so you will really feel like your on the moon..
now to implement a script that confines the camera so you cant venture outside a given area..
/garagegames here I come..
