If I add a new texture to a server side map like if it is Lush and I make the texture lava texture in the texture editor... does it make it client side?

I believe so. I think as soon as u mess with the terrain it becomes client side. I *BELIEVE* so. Anyone want to confirm this?

IF you do anything to the terrain BESIDES clear or set empty spaces, you make it client side.

If I took the Escalade terrain, didn't mess with it, but changed the texture to one of the built-in ones, like lavaworld_lavarockhot, would it make it clientside?:confused:

Yes, because in order to make the texture changes stick, you have to save a new .ter file.

Yes, I enjoy client side maps. But the truth of it is they are much less popular than server side since users have to download them. If autodownload was an option, I don't think there would be a gap.

To make the texture stick you needint save the .ter file, You need to simply save the texture file, which then i havn't seen a specific awnser as to wether saving the texture file causes it to be clientside or not.
But then even if you can't then how do people have snow on grass textures without saving the texture and still keeping it serverside???? And if this is done in the terrain window where you set empty and not empty can you add textures there, and it stay serverside??? If so, how??:confused:

The texture file is only for the editor, and you do need to save the .ter to make the textures stick. To keep any changes done in the terraformer, be it heightfield or texture, you must save the .ter.
