To find out how to do skyboxes do a search of the t2maps.com forum using the word"skybox". You should find some step by step instructions.

I make my skyboxes with PSP (shareware version), Adobe photoshop (a demo version) and a raytracing program I had laying around called "raydream3d" (cost roughly $70 a couple years ago) although you could use POV-Ray which is free at The downside of povray (or its advantage depending on how you view it) is that it is text based and has a substantial learning curve. Another useful program is called SkyPaint () but this one costs something on the order of $80.


Regardless of how you do it you are looking at many hours of trial and error to get a decent skybox. But if you succeed you can make some pretty neat stuff. I have custom skyboxes on my maps "Solar Pathos" "Synthetic Planet" and "Chapter 11" If you want to see what can be done.

which file into where? Your skybox into the game?

You create a *.dml file within the textures folder. Also with the textures folder is a "skyboxes" subfolder. Within the skyboxes folder you have the skybox .png files. LIke I said. Search the tribes2.com forums for "skybox" to find detailed skybox instructions.

Oh, terragen. I tried to use that one but couldn't get it to do what I want and switched to the other programs. If I remeber correctly everything was loaded or saved in terragen specific file formats and I didn't want to mess with it.
