Final Fantasy--a group of related maps
Now granted i have already released one of the many Final Fantasy based (movie and game) maps i plan to create...as of now the one that i was TRYING to duplicate was the final scene of "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" in the crater meshed with the concept of Mako Reactors in Final Fantasy VII...the next concept im working on will helpfully be server side due to me finding a terrain that will actually work. its the Tuscon wasteland scene where Dr. Ross finds the 7th spirit...the "Phantom Cleansing" mission...im still debating wheather or not i should make it Siege or CTF....siege may be a bit more appropriate, but not many ppl play siege. =\
i will continue to release concepts from the movie and from the games (in particular FF7 & FF8)....two thing i need from my T2maps.com buds:
1) feedback on whether or not i should continue my crusade (check out "Final Fantasy" for an idea)
2) is anyone willing to work with me who knows Worldcraft and/or any type of scripting...i would ask Akira, but he is a busy man....and i wouldnt dare tear him away from any of his godlike projects

well, i skipped final fantasy 9..i didnt like the idea that they were moving toward REAL ppl in FF7 and FF8 and then they went back to that wierd shit of half cat/person crap...i was pissed about that so i didnt play it....and the idea that you have to create your magic spells or whatever..i dunno, i never liked it....but i was thinking about trying to create crystal looking structures out of FF's....problem being:
1) you cannot have too many FF's in one frame due to the engine will not render some of them....
2) too many in one frame overlapping, RAPES FPS's...
all of my ideas are going to be created in WC (provided i learn the biatch) and client side (duh) due to the WC objects and custom terrains....
some examples of maps i plan to make on these theme are:
..the chocobo ranch from FF7
..."Galbadia Garden" (spelling) from FF8
...a fight over the "Ragnorok" from FF8 (possibly siege)
those are some ideas that i want to create to really expand on the T2 imagination....hell, if i had the knowledge i would make a mod...

do you think its a good idea to include some type of custom music with your map...i mean to complete the theme...cus i hate the reg T2 music....granted, im sure everyone who is tired of it has put in some really good techno renamed into their music folder....
reason being i have these awesome techno song(s), cut down in size of course, from Paul Okenfold that really fits my map(s) and it is edited to about 4 mins....do you think its a good idea? i debated it for "Final Fantasy" but i figured ppl bitch so much about client side maps as is i didnt include it.
***WARNING***sign of oldness:
i remeber back in the days when UT was the primere shiznit and ALL maps were client side and some of them were up to 4mb (!!!) a piece if they were good. and no one bitched, they loved it! BAH! NOW GET OF MY GRASS!!
*cough* granted there was auto-DL. but then again, bytor's works like a gem! ^_^

Creating your own magic spells ? None of that in ff9. You hold an item that has a spell on it until you learn it and then you can use the spell without the item. That is how you learn spells. Same thing with special moves, etc. Interesting battle systems in ff games.
If you really felt adventurous about making a ff-theme map, you could recreate the spooky Nibel mountains or maybe the mansion in Nibelheim Good ideas in this thread.
ah yes! Nibelhiem...GOOD idea....ill write that on my list...now granted i need help/learn WC =( and i dont even know where to start...and the fact that i have to look up to bases like Insurgence and Hellfire doesnt help....also..ive spent 100+ hours on those games so i know like EVERY part inside and out...hell, i could recreate the golden saucer....or do a siege map on the section 7 tower strut like this:
oh god damnnit the ideas! and i cant do a damned thing about it!!!! >=( Grrrrrrrrr!

Oh I forgot to mention only two of the main characters in FF9 aren't completely human and both for very good reasons (explained in the plot). One is from a different planet (or the same?) and the other, well, play the game.
I'd like to see the floating islan that you fight Kefka on (from FF3), perhaps you could make a base out of terain (because the island looks as though it is composed of living fleash) and then put the island really high up in the air so if you fall off... well... you know.
Another Idea would be to remake the battle with the Galbadia garden from FF8. You could make 2 flying bases crashing into eachother but make them a little rounder and maybe mess with their colouring a little. I think FF maps are a great idea, you should even make maps from other games like Crono Trigger.
right now im trying to figure out if that "ping-pong" script will work with fully functioning bases with inv's and all that mess so somthing like that could come about....the problem is i REALLY need to learn WC..not many ppl are willing to give thier time to someone elses needs

Worldcraft really isn't that hard. OK, granted I never actually made anything good on it and havn't used it in years. Oh yeah, and I don't have a clue as to how to use it anymore.
But FF maps are a great idea. You could do the assault on the Mako Reactor. Or maybe the Crater (where you fight Sephiroth).
There's just too many ideas! Problem is I don't really remember FF8 much, so I can't help you much there. Even FF7 is slipping from my mind as I havn't played it in several years.
Ah, I have another one. How bout Midgar when it has the giant cannon on it? Or maybe that sea town that had the cannon on it originally (forgot the name). Or maybe an assault on the Highwind. Or that mountain in that Chinese town (forgot the name again, sorry). Temple of the Ancients would be good too.
If God does not exist in this world...then, I will create God with my own hands!

oh the sea town..thats Junon..and the tower would be the "Sector Seven Support Tower" there is just soooo many things that could be used from FF7 and FF8 in tribes2 that would actually work. They would most likely bring some good siege play. but think how awesome it would be to play in Midgar! /me looks at Akira that would be the "crem de la crem" of maps...prolly take hours to light tho...you would have to set the time limit to an hour just to find one enemy! imagine rabbit or hunters in that! O_o
oh the ideas! it hurts that i cant do a damned thing about it! i tried to get vimp to make a WC object of the science vessel from final fantasy the spirits within cus im makin a CTF map in the leined meteor crater from the movie...when im done, ill put some screenshots of the terrain up for drooling

The amount of objects in a map modeled after Midgar would not only take an hour to load, but would reduce fps to about 1 fpm. And while I'm not one to complain about fps, I would in that instance.
