why remake tribes1&2 other then updating and bettering models perhaps and getting the engine to use better lighting etc why reinvent the wheel

would be cool just to see them both on one .exe ((tribes 1 and T2 base/classic and whatever mods people want)) where a Tribes1 game would be listed in the same server list as T2 games etc Tmail and community browser as well, but one unified chat

CD keys you would have to create an account for to get one, or some other type of login system and maybe a map autodownloader

i wouldnt even mind a banner ad somewhere in the community browser or chat

but yeah just pipedream nowadays

I could see something like a stand-alone mod switcher being made. Nothing too fancy, just an .exe that listed all T1 and T2 servers available, allowing the player to join whatever server he wanted before launching the game. It would easily bypass the login problem Tribes 2 players experience. It could also include a mod switcher, so many mods could be placed within the same T2 folder without confusion. Its not exactly a total conversion mod, but it would fancy up the T2 experience a bit. Perhaps it could even have update news or something on the front page, to inform on SS2845 updates or whatever. Something like Steam, but for Tribes, except without all the annoyances Steam has.
