For a hallway you need a minimum of 4 blocks (unless you wanted a triangular hallway). Think of them as legos... that you can morph. Or like those would blocks you can stack and build with. OR !

hehe, but my question, to be more specific, is dod you START out with one block?? cuz i know that when you cut, ie: a hallway, it separates into different pieces, cuz thats just how WC is so? do you originally start out with one block? or do you add more and more??

Normally I will start with the "base"
mainly a basic floor brush the size of my main building so I have a idea of how big I want it.. then I add wall brushes and make them thick enough that you dont have clipping to where you see outside.. then I visualize where I want chutes or places to go up to a second floor if I do that and then add the roof/floor of second story...
then add floors on that level.. and then add a roof cap.. which is the main roof..
now later if I see a wall that needs a door/or window then I highlight that wall and clip out a door or wall or I merely shrink the wall back and add a door.. ie 3 brushes... then I would add some brushes for trim so it offsets the door.. IE seperate textures so it will visually break up the door from the wall..
then I will go in and add little details with brushes by clipping them and adding them to the main shape.. : )
You really must have a artistic side to yourself to do level design.. or it will look like a big blob and will look like a big block.. : )
but all it is is various brushes/blocks that are placed together to make a building.. also you have the ability to make columns, arches, wedges, so on... : )
there is even a dome maker out there on this site.. : ) but alot of it is imagination so if you dont have imagination you will be frustrated alot.. : )
