Can't get Hammer 3.4 to work
Well, what seems to be the problem? It flat-out wont load, or you cant configure it to work for tribes 2 bases? Its about my bedtime right now, so I'll check and see how I have mine configured tomorrow =).
You really needn't bother with your build programs or run map settings. The only important thing is to have the "Game Data Files" field filled in with your tribes.fgd file, which I have here in my screenshot. My tribes.fgd file is in my Tribes2\worldcraft directory, its just that my acutal tribes folder is in a funky location in the screenshot
You're going to want to use map2dif GUI to compile your bases, instead of the "Run Map" option or the morian.exe compiler that came with the t2wc_docs.zip file. I like map2dif GUI alot better because it takes away the confusion of using the command line, and it also compiles newer bases alot better. Link:
Just whenever you're ready to compile your base, just click "File> Export to .map" in Worldcraft. Then open map2dif GUI and choose the .map file, then set the "Texture Base Location" box, which is the directory for the textures you are using. In order for map2dif GUI to recognize textures, you need to extract the .wad file. I would use to do this. Remember, Worldcraft uses the .wad files to texture your bases in its editor, but map2dif GUI needs these textures to be extracted.
When everything is compiled, just drop the resulted .dif file into your tribes2\gamedata\base\Interiors folder and away you go.
As a final note, remember to use only .wad file at a time in Worldcraft. So in Worldcraft, under "Tools>Options>Textures", make sure there is only one file present, otherwise the base wont want to compile. Let me know if you have any more problems.
Oh yeah, dont EVER use the carve tool, as evil things will happen. The carve tool is the tool of the devil, and I learned that the hard way. Carving will cause your vertices to not snap to the grid, and you will get "splinters" after the base is compiled. There is nothing the carve tool can do that the Clipping Tool combined with the Vertex tool can't do better.
Here is a screenshot of my map2dif GUI settings, for compiling my "church.map" base. Note my "Texture Base Location" box. I also have the "Process for Final Build" box checked. I'm not sure what it does, but I always check it anyway.
You're either still using the "Run" command in worldcraft, or you're using the old morian.exe/map2dif.exe that came with worldcraft. I'm not sure exactly how to use those, but try using Wally to extract all the textures from the .Wad file you are using to the same directory as the .wad file. The textures in the .wad file aren't the same as the textures in the textures.vl2 folder. I still recommend using map2dif GUI seperately from Worldcraft to get the best results.
