Does anybody know how to get rid of compile errors in their .dif's? I'm having a problem where every time I compile my base and load it in Tribes 2, i get a lot of 'fractures' or warped vertexes. This only happens on really complex shapes-- like hollowed-out spheres or pipework. The object looks perfect in worldcraft, absolutely no errors to be found. In the game, it looks like crap.
I'm using map2difGUI.exe for exporting (I hate Morian). It says that I have a lot of orphaned polygons, but that error never caused a problem in the past.
I will post some screen shots tomorrow. Right now, I have to get back to slaying demons in Doom 3
alt + p will tell you of *known* errors with your interior.
However, i have had a few errors which i call "jumping brushes" Some brushes, for no reason at all, decide to move down by 128ish points. To counter this, i move them eensily (1 pt) away from where they are and they dont seem to jump. Ive had this when i was making several symetrical (and copied) exits to the main sledgehammer base. Different brushed jumped each time.
Thanks guys, I had a hunch that carving and non-grid-locked-points were to blame. From now on, I should try to resort to using Clipping and Vertex Manipulation only. I thought that carving could place vertcies (vertcies/vertexes?) in between the minimum grid.
