T:V Review

Haven't got a chance to try it out online yet but so far just moving around the map and testing out weapons and skiing and stuff seems pretty good. How is T:V on 56k mr. longfellow? I'll be on there for about 4 months until i get my DSL back.

I'll agree with the comments about hard to read fonts and badly layed out GUIs. Also voting is a big pain. The skiing isn't that different than the other tribes games so i don't know why everyone was complaining on a bunch of forums when they first tried it. My thoughts are that they couldn't ski in the first place!

As for the grappler, i can see it's potential and can't wait to work with it more, but right now i just suck with it. Oh well... hope to see you guys online sometime.

They got to be kidding, right? If this is what the game is going to look and play like. Then I think Tribes 2 is going to remain number 1 for years to come. The vehicles were a joke, and I did not see a first person view as a pilot. Maybe I have to try that again and see if there is an option thingy. The weapons were not impressive at all. The graphics were detailed but the maps were not much better looking than a good T2 map. The interiors were not as good as i had hoped. Maps were very small. I won't complian about the controls yet as I have to get used to them.

Your correct lag, there is no 1st person vehicle view.

Vehicles pilot like stagnant dead horses.
Dueling is better than ever (mix between T1/t2 Stylz Yew)
Maps have overdone interiors that dont need to be there.
No massive planes? wtf is with this game theres NO tribes like maps at all in the beta!?!?! I demand 2 small bases and hills inbetween. Guy's its obvious the community is going to expect alot from us as irrational seems dead set on pumping out UT2004 style maps.

I completely agree with you there Riavan... i think a lot of the "UT with jetpacks" thing comes from the "UTesque" map design. On cavern just give me a UT character and a speed pack and quad jump and i'll be just as dangerous as any tribes player out there!

Seriously, this game better ship with some larger maps and please some with rolling hills.

Yeah... in the end, the only thing that'll make this feel like UT is the maps.

I have played in a CTF Game of TV and have to say this:

TV is the sorriest, lamest, piece of crap out of all the new video games coming out this year. This cannot even compare to T2 in any sense of the Game. I will NOT be buying this piece of crap, and any serious T2 player that does not denouce this act of terror on the game we know and love is a Noob.

I'm guessing this harsh denouncement of a game that kicks so much as (IMO, obviously ) is in no small part because of the lack of bots.

Sorry to hear that, Lagg. I dunno, I like the game a lot so far, and I think it has potential as far as mapping and such. Maybe things will change for the better in the final release.

Sorry to hear it Lagg but it's only a beta to give us a feel of TV.

Also there's no manual to explain how to do things.
One thing I found after playing some time.

As for favorites, set all the fav u want ( NOTE: uncheck the right ini file read only attribes so the game will save them ) step on a inventory station an hold down the shift key > instance fav selection ` from any bank.

I've redid my screen HUD, copy what I like from others who made HUDs, an now everything I want are easy to read an in the right place an everything I dislike are gone.

As for Packs, hit the Q key to active it. Try the Energy pack, go cap a flag, as ur going to the flag do a dics jump > grab flag > run like H*LL an hit the Q key an C what happens

as for rolling large maps, i have already 3 maps on the drawing board (as soon as i can figure out how to work this damn editor). Ill start with a remake of my deadmarshes map with a new tower and more detail (because the engine can handle it ). next is arid, loooong sloping, rolling hills perfect for skiing. then lava pits will be remade into "vulcan" with only 3 towers, but 4 lava pits in the middle. map will be smaller but have more oppotunites for back caps.

then.. maybe icy lake and sledgehammer has a huge question mark on it.

then ill start on "folly" maps which are just a few ideas thrown into a map....
