This one has 3 columns ... and a shadow around the header image. This only has one armor on it, but more will get added later. This is a just a concept design.

"All your maps are belong to me!"
Here's a design I propose. Hopefully it wont be too hard to implement, as I picked elements from both site designs that I liked. I tried to figure out how to best mix ease of navigation with providing information. Its kind of hard to do both, as once you provide too much information it becomes hard to navigate a site. What I did was I put all "information" related panes on the right side of the site, and all the "navigation" related panes on the left side. I also shamelessly ripped the "Tribal Outpost" logo and put it where it ought to go, because I think it looks pretty cool
Obviously nothing is sized right, but it provides a general layout that I think works out pretty well.
Are you suggesting I use the "graphic" art from the first design? or just use the elements from the third design and just re-arrange them in this order?
I am not sure I like that layout only because it seems to clutter things up more. However, I am open to ideas, so I will play around with it in photoshop and see what I come up with. I may or may not post screenshots of my fiddling but I will give it a shot.

I *personally* liked the graphic art from the first design, but I think either graphic design will work for this layout.
I'm just trying to promote ease of use and navigation. When someone goes to tribaloutpost.com, they're thinking "what am I looking for?" Site design #2 is a little crowded with stuff for the eyes to look at, know what I mean? If we take a look at the tried-and-true layout of tribes2maps.com, we see that everything you need is right where you want it:
I just like having the important stuff in a separate section from everything else. The current tribaloutpost.com layout is pretty efficient-- just not very stylistic.
I dunno. I guess the best thing to do right now, is just keep messing around until you're happy with the layout. Keep the screenshots coming!
Well as much as I appreciate that, and I understand it too, the problem is that this sites is going to being everything/anything Tribes (tribes-related, including Legends, Ascension, Legions, and any other tribes game to come out).
I currently have been unable to make an graphical type of menu that will work on the left, but I understand what you are saying and I agree to a point.
Thanks dick_longfellow for all the suggestions, I appreciate it.
I am going to continue to mess with it, we will see how it goes. Thanks again.

Welcome to "Who's Line Is It Anyways?". The show where everything is made up and the points don't matter. That's right, the points are like a birthday cake at a funeral home.
1) You need another colour, complimenting the blue (which I like, BTW ) that makes things pop.
Perhaps a gold? I'm thinking that the secondary colour would be used as a sort of lining, and to highlight the important things like section headers and more importantly the logo itself. Right now the logo and menu header text just blends into the background colour. They become less eye-grabbing, which is counter-productive to the job of a header (to attract attention and give broad information quickly).
2) The site is not actually 1024 as you have stated you were aiming for. It seems to be marginally going past 1024 (by like 20-30 px) possibly because of the female light armour's spinfusor. If you squish it by about 50 px that ought to look right and fit without losing too much useful space.
I like the current design so far though.
As for forums, would it be possible to have completely independent forums for each game? Perhaps a 'Tribes 1 Modding' forum set with subsections of mapping, skinning and scripting, and then 'Tribes 2 Modding', 'Legends Modding', SS2845... etc, counterparts.
Then have a separate 'Playing' forum which discusses playing the games themselves, and would have subsections for each game.
I think this might be the way to go as modding is separate from playing, and each game will have different modding tools/methods for them, hence their own separate forums. It would save on having one giant list of forums and subcategories.
Of course, each forum would be accessible from the others, and would each link back to the main site (IE every single page on TO would have an identical header menu bar).
