.ter files and Serversideness

This may seem like a stupid question but i'm new to the mapping scene and i was wondering if having a .ter file in your vl2 makes it a clientside map. I want my map to be serverside and if this .ter file doesn't make it serverside i want to get rid of it if possible. Now my map doesn't need any custom textures or anything like that. I will just use whatever built in stuff Tribes 2 provides. Basically, when i created the map i took minotaur as a template for the terrain and therefore took it's .ter file. Before i get into too much terrain detailing i was hoping to get this question answered.

making any changes (with the exception of poking holes) in the terrain will make it clientside, and it is best not to save over T2 base terrain stuff, if that is what you did.

when i first started mapping i took the sancuary .ter file and made huge changes...then i saved it over the original...i could never play sanctuary on a server again...untill i did a reinstall.\
