All time best terrains

Im interested in knowing what you think the best terrains have bin for the following categories: Dessert, Canyon, Lava, Mountainouse, Ice and Water based (ie: maps that contain over 50% water with islands etc.

So how bout it anyone got any opinions on this one?

But back to my original question:

what terrain do u like the most?

answere:

lava type, Number of the Beast
Ice type, Cold War
Canyon, Canyon Crusade
Mountainouse, Scrarebrae classic

so on and so fourth, Im trying to get an idea as to what styles of terrain to include in a new fps I have the honor of working on

Variety is the spice of life, man. You can't always please everyone, so mix it up a bit. Fill the gaps that need filling. If there are no plans for a map type you feel should be there, then make plans.



Also, you will be limiting yourself if you generalize landscape into those 4 categories. Nature is not that simple:

Swamps, Jungles and Forest would all be a lush landscape for example, but are totally different.

Canyons vs. Deserts

Glacial Meadows vs. Jagged Mountain

Where would any urbanized area fit in to your list?




Also, if this is for a completely different game, then the terrain should be designed with that game in mind. Tribes has very unique gameplay (skiing and flying) and the maps are very much adapted to it.
