errr... creating custom textures?

Okay, I'm not talking about objects, I'm talking about terrain.

(not sure if this is the right forum to post in, but okay)

Basically I want to use the tombstone terrain, but I want it to be snow.

But when I texture it as snow, and save the texture file, I reload the mission, and it's still desert!

Help would be appreciated!

Go to the .mis and look at the ter. file: If it is the map you chose to make the map on such as tombstone, then delete it, and put in "yourmapname.ter" (Obvisouly your map name goes in the spaces, and there arn't supposed to be any quotations!). If your map name is map1, then put map1.ter in the terrain file under .mis

Hmm.... if you want to keep it server side, which obviously severly limits your options, you can use a SS terrain that's desert and change the 'detailfile' or whatever it's called in the terrainblock to 'snowdet1' or 2 or 3 or whatever and see how it looks. Probably quite dodgy looking, but worth trying.

I don't really care too much if the map is client-side, as it's really for my clan to play.

Hmmm, I've already tried doing a custom terrain, but I can always try again.

k, I tried changing the detialterrain thingy. It doesn't seem to change anything. I'll try saving a custom terrain now.

I actually have an entire map built right now.

What I'm wondering is if there is a way to use snowdet1 without saving the terrain file so it can be server side.

To change the terrain:

Open the map
Start the editor
Under Windows > Terrain Texture Painter u'll see on the right side the textures used for the terrain, change any for desiered effect! NOTE: U might not see any pics there but above each change button u'll see a path to the texture, change each to ur hearts content!
To save, goto the world editor an just click apply, center right, then file save, restart T2.

For SS all u need is the .mis an .spn file if using an original T2 terrain, but DON't ferget to rename the .mis an .spn so it doesn't interfer with any other maps. You need the .spn file 'cause the .mis fie references the same name .spn. If u use bots u also need the .nav file.

Look. I don't need help with newbie stuff. I know HOW to edit the textures. It WON'T SAVE. I have an entire map done now. If you looked at the screenshot you'd see that I have a snow terrain already. I want to know if there is a way to use one of the textures that came with the game so that my map is server side. Because if I change the mission file it does nothing. The only thing that has worked so far is to save the terrain too, but that makes it client side.
