Obviously, I would never advocate spam but no system is perfect. I think distinguished mappers might find enough to post in the forums to surpass their vetting period.
By 'banning' rogues I just meant, well, banning them - at least you could probably do it before they reached the map vault my way. I think they would get tired of trying to pass their vetting period by posting and posting (and getting found out if they are llamas) and give up drive-by comments.
I was just explaining my initial views here, like I said, no system is perfect, and I am th first to admit this system is far from perfect. I'm dropping the idea /me drops it, sees bytor, then sweeps up and puts in bin
I think we're working towards the idea of a system composed of a few moderate measures:
-bad word flagging, but not banning bad words
-minimum word count
-keeping the ratings system, but with stars instead of letters

ok...i got a post on my map pack # 2...and it was a drive by A!!! yet it pissed me off none the less. look at the pittiful comment. "looks nice"
that gave me no insight what so ever. so we must look at more than just drive by F's. i think that the 100 word limmit is a great idea now. infact, i wish bytor would incorporate it into todays t2maps.com so this wont happen again. im sure less comments will be given, but at least the comment giver will give some insight.

I'm actually considering removing the none grade altogether, except for the map owner so that he can comment on the comments. Everyone else will get one grade per account.

Neither do I. I like to write enough for my comments to speak for themselves, personally I find it's impossible to give consistent scoring for maps I look at, and even if I do manage consistent scoring it's not really on par with everyone else's, so my grades would just throw everything out, which I wouldn't like.

The problem is that the "none" grade opens it up for people to use the comments as a little mini-forum, completely against what they're intended for.

[my thoughts] keep the grading but make it so you have to have 30 days or 100 posts to get to grade.. this will provide commitment to the site and also keep people form just joining to comment.. drop the F grade.. its just plain mean.. : ), and keep up the good work Bytor.. you rock as usual.. : )[/my thoughts]

I still like the stars idea, it's not as harsh sounding as an F, it's more of a

"this is what it generally is to ME, personally a good map, however other may like it."

sounding comment than a

"this map suxorz".

i like kips idea and the stars... i changed my mind alot hehe
