What you do is set the %position to the point you want to check back from. However I don't know if it will hit the backside of objects or terrain which is what you would cause.

Perhaps you need 9 raycasts from 3 points on the fighter. These properties can be referenced inside code to point it in the right direction and should be able to be set on the bomber or apc with the same general code.

ScanOffset[2, 2] = "0 0 0.4" (More Up)
ScanOffset[2, 3] = "0 0 -0.4" (More Down)

ScanOffset[3, 2] = "0 0 0.4" (More Up)
ScanOffset[3, 3] = "0 0 -0.4" (More Down)

You can use the ScanCross to determine if a cross product is needed. If not 0 then do a VectorScale(VectorCross(%ForwardVector, "0 0 1"), %ScanCross);

For Scan 1, 1 it just uses the forward vector.
For Scan 1, 2 it adds that ScanOffset to the normalized forward vector first
For Scan 2, 1 it will do the cross product first.

I got a container radius search to pick up the terrain object (type = 67108869) but it returns the position that is in the map file. That isn't very good and I don't think radius searchs are going to help you navigating.

I don't think you can get around using rayCasts since you would want it to tell you if you are about to collide, not just that an object exists over there and it's size is unknown.

Upward is just "0 0 1"

Reverse is the forward vector scaled backwards or VectorScale(%Vector, -1)

Left is the VectorCross(%Vector, "0 0 1");

Right is the VectorCross(%Vector, "0 0 -1");
