Is "this" serverside ???

Maybe I'm mistaken or my memory plays trick to me, but once (I can't find it again) I saw a map at tribes2maps that had a terrain or texture file not colorlighted (in red) as clientside. Of course, the file was very small and was probably just a set of some of the filters for applying texture (fractal and such).

My point is this :
because applying a series of filters to change the terrain texture is small (like using Katabatic terrain file and applying grass to it) is a very small file, is it possible that the map is still serverside with only this minor change ?

Nope. It is clientside. Texturing is actually stored within the .ter, so if you save any changes to the texture, you have to change the .ter. The .cs files are for debugging purposes only. (And, quite frankly, I don't see why people include them with thier maps). Clients do not read these files, and update the terrain. It would be extremely nice if it did, but it does not.

Well, Thanx guys for both your answers, really but the thing is I still don't have an answer...

Let's say it again, or in fact ask a more general question :

With only serverside in mind, what is actually possible, especially things that people won't think of at first glance at the editor... ?

Like I have heard that by scripting in the .mis file (serverside, right ?) you could achieve plenty of thing that you wouldn't have thought of if somebody else had not showed you in the first place (or kinda... I mean : sort of )

I gave you an answer. You cannot change the terrain textures AT ALL and have the map be serverside. The textures are stored in the ter file itself. The texture scripts do not do anything.

You can not change the terrain textures through scripting. No matter how small the change, it is still clientside. And clientside or not, texturing is done in the terraformer. And saved in the .ter. You can't script textures into the .mis.
