Capture the Flag Lush Clear Client Side Custom Textures Custom Shapes
This is the second map I've ever created. All structures were created by me with WorldCraft. There are no "stock" buildings in this map. There are a couple custom textures but really they are only there as a signature of sorts. Also, the terrain is completely custom and probably a little unusual. I've yet to learn how to create custom skies so this has just a rather blase' Archipelago type of sky. I hope you like it.

The texturing could be redone, a few more entrances, and a bit of cleanup is always nice. But focusing on how it isn't PROFESSIONAL would take away from how much this map rocks, especially as your first real worldcraft work! This is an excellent, large scale vehicle-oriented map. I hope to see some servers test it out...
Ok, I found the hole that

Anyway, the rock is back so the hole is plugged. I uploaded the new .vl2 but I don't know how long it'll take for Bytor to replace it. The new version has a text file called chasmaclysmic v1.01.txt. Thanks for the praise so far. Except you, CleverClothe! You dirty rat-bastard! :) Just kidding...heh heh.

by CleverClothe on June 2, 2002 Permalink · Rating:B+ Good CTF map. I liked alot of it. Because of space issues I will talk about what needs to be improved. I liked the terrain. But it does not offer a very smooth route to the bridge (took me 3 minutes to get to the bridge in an MPB). The bases are very good (liked the back entrance), but 2 big issues: The chutes to the roof are blocked at the top by the light fixture. This makes it really hard to exit out of either one. And the equipment generator is burried deep in the base. I counted 4 levels, 4 ramps and 4 huge rooms that have to be traversed to reach the gen for the inventories. A distance that would be all but impossible for even 2 heavies (plenty of time to kill them). With the map being so large (2200m between flags), I was concerned about the lack of inventories at the bridge. Having a generator there is not that useful. And the turret does not have help from a sensor, so it is easy to avoid. I even drove past in an MPB. Plus it is easy to destroy, and very hard to repair because: No repair pack and 1000m from your nearest inventory. It would also be nice to be able to get to the foot level from the vehicle level at the center of the bridge. All buildings would really benefit (FPS and function wise) from vehicle collision entities. Oh, and I liked the sign. ;)

I didn't want one of those maps where people can get to the other side in seconds and then cap the flag in a few seconds more. The equipment generator was also placed very deep into the base for several reasons. One, if someone really wanted to rape the base so that people couldn't use an inv. station, they have to work for it. The vehicle pad gen and sensor gen are both fairly easy to take out. Two, there's the "back entrance" which allows a person to sneak in "mostly" undetected and bypass many of the levels you mentioned. I agree that I should add a sensor at the bridge to make further use of the turret. I could also add an inv. station near the gen. You're actually mistaken about there being no repair pack however. There are repair packs under the gen probably no more than 20 - 30 meters away. The turret is actually really easy to repair as I left a hole in the structure so you can stand under the turret and repair it. This also means you can stand under it to destroy it. Thank you for the detailed critique. I will ponder what you've said and probably make some changes. So is there no issue with the lighting then, as mentioned in your previous post? Yea, I added the sign for some humor. Did you also find the hidden tombstone?

The only nice idea about this

Other than that, the custom buildings could use a little more detail, you could flatten out the terrain a bit for a better use of skiing, and make the bases a little closer together, or maybe have the chasm/bridge waypoint capturable.
