Siege Other Storming Client Side Custom Textures Custom Shapes Night

After a long break, really long break I have decided to start back into this lovely game of Tribes 2. And back I was. I spent a lot of time and editing on this map. So I hope you all like it :)

The map is a moderate size siege map that takes place around a volcano where the Blood Eagle have set base. On one side of the volcano is average size base with an out-of-the-way tower. There are 3 generators that must be destroyed to access the switch. These are placed in the main base of the defenders. Though the defenders have one problem, because of the active volcano they must use a separate generator to power their basement from being flooded. If the attackers to destroy the flood control generator then the basement will be covered in lava and the only main base repair pack, plus inventory stations will be un-accessible. Not to mention the basement generator becomes bad lava spawns, and the Basement Generator being impossible to repair. On the attackers side, there is two main ways of transport. A vehicle station and a distant teleporter pod, which has been disabled of power, once the pod is up the attackers get a closer approach to the defense's main base.

After all the generators have been destroyed the attackers will be able to reach the switch which is held in an old mine shaft near by the attackers base so switch defense is very hard.

Thanks to all the beta testers who showed up. Thanks to Verna for map advice. To Team Exodus for being a pwnage tribe, RedShifter for executing my WC base, and creating the lava script. Sparky for creating that useful teleporter script. And the people of the Tribes 2 forums for help and feedback. Now I present you another Siege... ;) map Egeis.

Wow, it's not even on new uploads and its already got a buncho-a's, guess that Mind Control works ;)! For all those who have the old version of this map you have to download this newer version cause it's got diferent terrain and a new custom base.

Thnx SkaMaster for pointing this out, but I friggen forgot to put the Egeis.cs in it's rightful folder. I've sent Bytor the update via e-mail so it should work once that file size increases a wee, you don't have to re-download the map to play it in pubs though, luckily.

I like all the custom objects, although the attackers base is a little bit blocky. I'll review it properly if I have time...

Well, here I am to ruin the party. First of all, let me say that this is an awesome looking map - the buildings are superb and the terrain and overall atmosphere is exceptional. The gameplay would work, I would think, except for a major problem I noticed. Earlier, you left the.cs file out of the map, therefore making the Flood Control generator useless. I've played it since then, and unfortunately have more complaints than I had before. You see, if the flood control gen is taken down while the basement gen is up, then the offense has a major problem because the basement floods. The only way to get the gen is to jump in as a heavy with a shield pack and try to get 2 mortar shots off. Also - say the basement gen is down, then the FC gen goes down - the map is either going to be capped right then, or all the D is going to run to the switch and nobody will ever cap. This is the only major gameplay problem I noticed, but it is major. Aside from that, the only thing I'm puzzled about are the Eq. gens. Why are they called Eq gens if all they do is power the switch forcefields? The Basement gen controls the Equipment. Not a big deal, just a bit confusing to me.

Sure, the lava is a problem. But overlook that, and you have one heck of an amazing map that deserves no less than an A. Good job.

Way to go ska, drop the map down to #8 was it... hehe... when alundra submitted the map he forgot to include a few things... and yes i agree with you in that why are those 2 gens named equipment... i even asked alundra about that but he didnt seem to care... and yes the attackers can still kill the basement gen when the basement is flooded... and the switch isnt really meant to be able to defend... 3

A very pretty map on the whole, but the attackers' base is dissapointingly square. The textures at the switch building are also kinda odd... I don't feel they really fit. The map is quite playable apart from the fact that the switch is too easily defended if the D actually camp it.
