Capture the Flag Snow Snowing Client Side Custom Textures Custom Shapes

The mission takes place on a snow-covered planet. It was once used for mining, but was abandoned when the planet ran out of resources. When the workers were ordered to leave, it was decided that the equipment had depreciated so much that the cost to remove and transport it was too much. Mining machines, storage tanks, immense pipe networks and processing gear were all left.

The flags in this map are about 800m apart, and they sit fairly high above the ground. Each side has a remote base with a v-pad and a tunnel leading through a mountain from the main base to the remote base. MPBs are disabled and the remote base runs on its own, generator-less power source.

Thanks to RenWerX, D-C, Tribes2maps.com, TeamWarfare, and all the other people I’ve met through this game. Enjoy the map; I had fun making it.

Best atmosphere i have ever seen in a map - Prefabs are as detailed as DOX's ones and their design is as cool as Rilke's ones...pure jewel. Congratulations.

I don't have T2 installed, otherwise I'd fire it up and give it the old stress test. It looks like a million bucks though. You obviously put an A+ effort into your shapes and they look very nicely integrated into that atmospheric setting.

WOW! That IS some nice skillz there!
Great WC work! Gameplay and feel is well done also. Nice work indeed!
Keep it up!

I have fallen into my darker side.

Wow! Great work on the interiors. The detail in them is fantastic. Hope this gets into the pickup match soon to play it. From the look of the terrain, this should be a blast to play.

This map "NEVE" is awsome.
Many people are into the tech eye candy of the future. This map has a feeling that wants to draw you to a planet far from home with all the bells and turrets. +++++ It is ren friendly!!!!!!!!!!

by v5planet on April 5, 2003 · Rating:

I'm quite impressed with the talent and attention to detail behind this map. The interiors all have a very solid feel to them, the structural detail and texturing is original and that's always a good thing to see, especially when it's executed so well as it is here.

I would have to say my only real complaint with the map is that the gens are so incredibly vulernable to attack. A couple mortars have but to fall down the column leading to the surface between the four entrances to the main base and bam, the power's down.

But really, that's my only complaint, this is a beautiful map.

by Nycto on April 5, 2003 · Rating:

Well, thanks to Peachskin I fixed a texturing mistake that I made. As of right now (9:10 EST, 4/5/03) a new version of the map has been uploaded. Thanks for catching that. And thanks for updating the download, Bytor :)

Also, Thanks for all the kind comments, guys!

I haven't had the chance to play this yet, but the enigmatic name is a good sign. Hint: I don't think he named this map after an actress.

This map is deservant of an A, however because of the creative base design and the custom textures/sky and etc. It gets an A+. The reason why it may deserve an A is because the base is very easy to kill, also easy to spam from way out. However having the VP on a different non-kill gen, makes the map better. Overall it is a great map and is fun to play.

Map is awesome, definetely A+ for renegades style play, though yes, you can take base down quick depending on defense in base or especially classic style play. Thanks from the ren community for this map. Also to other mappers, if u keep renegades in mind, we will definetely take a look.
NYCTO ALSO MADE "SCHIZM" very unique map, also that should get some love.

I have to say i LOVED this map.
the detail on the bases are incredible, proveded i expected them to be a bit bigger but the detail beats it out by far.
The part that struck me most was the mountains that were 'built' into the sky. It gives a true feeling of atmosphere. Definitely a great map.

Dang it.. top map already.. I should post a "B" grade, just to make sure your head doesn't inflate too big. ;-) But I'm not like some people. I loved the map.. base detail, especially, but also terrain layout. Flag is a bit too defendable, IMO, but a very tiny thing, that.

by starstriker1 on April 12, 2003 · Rating:

First of all, this map is beautiful. The prefabs are some of the best I've seen. The terrain is quite good as well. Not to mention I loved that tunnel. I got a shrike stuck in it at the pickup, and clogged up the enemy tunnel. Until someone jumkped in it of course, and found it unmovable... they got creamed via disk. Anyway... my few gripes with this map... one, like others have said, the gens are a little too vulnerable... two, the bases are extremely hard to attack. The sensor coverage has no blind spots (which makes offense hard), and the turrets and vast farmable area cause some havoc to would be cappers. Or it could just be that I suck at capping. Oh well. Keep up the good work... I'm looking forward to your next map ;)

by Nycto on April 12, 2003 · Rating:

Multiple people have commented on this, so I think I'll give an explanation of my thought process. StarStriker said it perfectly... the Gens are very vulnerable, but the base is hard to attack. In design, my goal was for these two points to counter-act eachother.

After finally checking this out for myself, I must say that this is potentially the greatest map I have ever seen. The bases are simply incredible. The level of detail within them is fantastic, and while they aren't as large as I expected, they don't seem cramped. The custom textures within the bases are even more impressive. On the outside, the effect is heightened by the plethora of custom objects sitting around. When you've got great stuff like that, trees and rocks seem mundane. The terrain is nothing out of the ordinary, but it is very functional, and it should make for excellent gameplay. Most importantly, though, the terrain blends in perfectly with the custom skybox. The mountains in the distance appear to be so close that I had to convince myself that they weren't a part of the terrain. All told, this is a truly fantastic map, and I'm disappointed that I missed it at the pickup. I don't give A+ grades lightly, but this one is definitely worth it. Simply amazing.

this map deserves the grade i give :) from the textures to the bases, to the overall gameplay, this map is "muy perfecto". nycto :) you did a fantastic job in making this map into what it is right now. i give you two huge thumbs up and cant wait to see whats next. when i flew around in the shrike you had placed many pipes in the terrain which made it more realistic overall. that really made me like the map. alot off ppl dont take the time to place that stuff :) good job!!!

Excellent, interiors are perfect, layout perfect, and the sky,the way the land seems to roll forever(nice trick,I can't beleive I didn't think of that.) A+ all the way.

by Mr Tagomi on May 24, 2003 · Rating:

*sigh* this map has by far the best custom shapes ever... and pretty dang good custom textures. Why did you have to go and make us all look so bad Nycto? Selfish...

by Cheesed-Off on June 17, 2003 · Rating:

i havent played this map yet but what do you use to make the custom buildings they look so cool and there like there custom made for the map.

by Nycto on June 18, 2003 · Rating:

They were custom made for the map :) If you are interested in learning to do this kind of thing, start posting in the forums. There are lots of people there who would be happy to help (myself included).

Nice map to play offline or by yourself. Unfortunatly all the "Mining Equipment" dotted all over the place severely hampers FPS when theres a proper number of ppl on the server to actually have a good game of T2 with and the map becomes very unplayable.

by TheBerk on October 17, 2003 · Rating:

I for one didnt notice any loss of fps, and the mining equipment is far enough apart that it shouldnt affect gameplay at all.. I think a C was a little harsh, and its, in my eyes, not fair..

by The Driver on October 21, 2003 · Rating:

TheBerk, did you play it on LAN by yourself or online with 27 other ppl?

I've played this map several times in 14 vs 14 scrims and it has always killed my fps, especially when i approach the flag area (drops to about 5 O_O)... only in such scrims/public games though. Like i said, its fine to wander about on by myself - unnoticable fps loss.

Nice bases etc, i like them, however, one of the V-pads is way easier to long range spam from a hill than the other and I dont really find the terrain terribly skiable.

Just my opinion 3

by PsychoBorg on November 1, 2003 · Rating:

driver, this maps 1 of the greatest ive played, the interiors, the sky, the terrain work. all very deserving of an A+, id even say the interiors alone deserve the map an A+. a loss of fps kinda happens when your gfx card has to suddenly render a large interior, but that should not bring the grade of the map down by 2 letters. the map plays perfectly fine on my comp, i notice slight drops in fps near the flag but nothing to as low levels as 5fps, it more like decreaces BY 5. ur grade was very unfair

by The Driver on May 16, 2004 · Rating:

Im sorry. I dont judge mapseyecandy. I go and play them in the way they are intended. It looks nice, but apart from that its a boring and unplayable map.
