This is a mainly aerial map designed for servers with large numbers of players, and has interesting features to give everyone something to do. :)
The main bases float upon a thick cloud layer, with their keels being all that's visible from the ground. Multiple vehicle pads keep the lines short, as do respawning shrikes on the main base. The flags are protected by orange forcefields, making capping possible with the power up, but rather difficult. The FF generator is in a tower on the ground, and has minimal built-in defense. The ground consists of a patchwork of steep hills and rivers, and the ground-level vpad will spawn hovervehicles for use in assaulting the enemy FF gen tower.
Because the cloud layer seperating the main bases from the ground is so visually obscuring, it's possible for air-vehicles to actually sneak up on their targets to some degree (depending on the status of the base sensors) :)

by NecroBones on May 16, 2002 Permalink · Rating:Just to answer the question- the FFs are indeed orange. This allows capping even with the gens up, but with defense on the main base, it's very hard to cap the flag with the "flypaper" effect that the FFs create. Taking the gens down allows you to skip through and take the flag quickly. More often than not, I would think that most caps would happen this way, especially since with the gens up a heavy can sit on the flag and keep it pretty safe.
As for getting back up to the base... there's a vpad with inv stations on the ground for that. :)

by Iczer3 on April 9, 2002 Permalink · Rating:Woooooo... Icz always loves a good air battle...Only question is why are there Ff gens? the Ffs surrounding the flag are all-pass ones (that or i'm gonna have to start asking some questions....). One other little pain is that if you start out as a HoG (heavy on gen FYI) there isn't much chance of you ever seeing your airbase again unless you die... Perhaps some platforms leading up to the airbase from the Ff gen tower?
