Siege Other Clear

Project Alpha is a map pack for Siege. It contains within it six maps that have been rescripted to run "Adaptive Siege". Adaptive Siege is a simple concept that guarantees a capture for the offense, and here's how it works:

- The offense gains strength over time, and their weaponry is stronger.
- The defense loses strength over time, and their weapon is weakened.
- The repair pack repairs equipment more slowly over time. The repair pack says how powerful it is as you select it.
- Blaster is unaffected by Adaptive Siege rules.

The maps themselves have been unchanged, and here's a list of them:

Masada (A)
Caldera (A)
Ultima Thule (A)
Gauntlet (A)
TridentLE (A)
Bridge Too Far (A)

So if you're sick of these maps never being capped in public Siege servers, just run the Project Alpha edition of the maps and they will eventually be capped quicker, and will lead to maps that don't have a twenty minute first round.

My intent was to make the map faster, so that good player would have the time to own the base on offense.

Nifty idea, although i don't think it'd be ethical to grade them seeing as the maps are only slightly tweaked in the seige gameplay area. But a nifty idea to lengthen the matches none-the-less...

It doesn't seem fair to make such a newbish mod. Think of it, if a person who is totally new at the game gets a hold of this mod, there is no telling what could happen. They could turn into a tribes2 legend and not have any real skills. in other words, this mod could effectively change those siege missions altogether, making it a boring game.

Did I mention, all people sent by the evil wookie automatically die within two weeks of posting an F on my map? But seriously, Siege is PLAGUED by problems. I go out and try to improve a struggling gametype and I get an F rating. F--- that.

hmmm... altering maps to sometimes weaken the best players for the good of ppl with no skill. A little one sided. Don't you think?

I can already see that you one of the many people this think of siege missions as just, plain old missions like all other mission. But, in truth, siege maps are tests. Some people, like me, see siege as a test of teamwork, timing, and skill. Take Convoy for instance, if your on the defending team, and u make a little mistake, it would be literally impossible to make up for it. The little mistake is that you accidently drove the MPB into a valley and it tips over on its back. Boom. No more MPB. The way you have the project alpha is to eliminate the whole purpose of siege. By redusing time, speeding up gameplay, and defeating the purpose of siege, new players won't learn a thing about Tribes2 and will not be able to become as good a player as some of these clan members, like Kami Sam and good players won't have to opertunity to build their already existing skill.

I see you haven't responed yet. Don't get me wrong, you make great maps, like Frozen Shadows. But altering maps like the way Project Alpha does is taking siege way too far. This is also a thing that some siege fans loth. They like the challenge of facing experienced players and the trill of trying to cap the switch.
