Capture the Flag Lush Clear Client Side Custom Textures Custom Shapes
This map is fully client side, with custom bases, flagstand, particles,textures and sounds. <P> It is entirely intended to be played in Classic, due to the fact that flags are 800 metres apart and there is no Vehicle Station. It is playable in Base, but is not designed with it in mind. <P> From the mixeds and beta tests that it has gone through it is pretty fast-paced, so its a tough job for the LD. The flag stand is also almost entire un-HoFable, and only skilled LD's will be able to MineDisc the stand. <P> Hope you lot enjoy, and it doesnt kill your FPS too much, it shouldnt. <P> Credits go to Sock for the Egyptian textures and all the testers who helped me out.

The circle around the flag can be made into a deathtrap if you put in 3-4 clamp turrets, and landspikes in the proper places. The thing about the stand is that if a person has a mine there, there isn't enough area to peg it off with a disk... nothing some offensive sniping can't deal with. Its hard to decide whether this map is balanced towards defense or offense: a coordinated defense can keep the flag constantly locked down, but a coordinated offense can take out all the turrets and give the capper a clean get away. Great work! I'd like to try this on a bigger server, sometime...

As for is the map offence or defence oriented, i would say its slightly defence oriented. reasons well, as follow, (1)the elf turret, me thinks its bit to close to the flag. (2)i took an deployable inv to the enemy base, but i couldn't deploy it any really good loactions around the base, due the terrain being too steep..
If the author in future decides to tweak the terrain a bit, it would be appreciated.
Other than that, map is brillant. good to see custom flag stands and turret stands, nicely done

In a way, defense is easy, 'cause of the ability to farm so many deployables, and because of the ELF.. but with even half-decent offense, that ELF is down in no time, and the turrets are shot to pieces.. Awesome, awesome map. =D

Whoever made this map, didnt put one once of thinking into the flag defense. There's no balance.

by Salieri on March 29, 2003 Permalink · Rating:Well I suggest you play it in a mixed first before you say how shit the map is. I can supply you with 3 or 4 Euro Mixed beta-test demos if you want. If you want an easy MineDisc LD then perhaps no this is no good. I'm not gonna make the same old map variation that fits in with a team's prefered playstyle, iirc a good team should fit their playstyle around a map. Perhaps you just have to think around your preconcieved ideas of defence, and bring back the T1 art of BodyBlocking.
There's no defense to the map
by Validuz on March 29, 2003 Permalink · Rating:There's no defense to the map, man. It won't make it to TWL for sure. Cappers can grab 400+kph, without even touching the ground. You can't even most fast enough to even BB that. Plus, the gens... hell you might as well just make spammable gens, the gens are DOWN a shute, and can EASILY be WASTED. Hell, you can shield HO that map and OWN their gens. Other than that (the easy-rape gens and bad LD flag), the map rocks.

Now, perhaps that is just a classic possiblity.. we are running Base, after all. But why judge a map based on how it runs in a mod? =p

by starstriker1 on April 25, 2003 Permalink · Rating:Have you even played the map? Every pickup has been perfectly balanced with this map in play. Light defense is perfectly capable of ctaching incoming cappers. HO will rarely make it into the generator room itself. Perhaps this is because we play in good ol' balanced BASE, but at least PLAY IT WITH A FEW PEOPLE like at our pickups before speculating on how it will play.
