(An exerpt from a letter that never made it to its recipient--found amongst
Inferno ruins on TalosVI) "... so I made way to the secret spot in the gen
room in order to write this. The weather is freezing here, there is an odd,
green hue to the sky though. On sunny days, I can look up and imagine myself
to be somewhere else; but, the cold snaps me back to the harsh reality of
the conditions--and our mission here. We are nearing completion
of our bases. I have been put in charge of the final touches. Hopefully,
they will be done in time.
New technology recently discovered from the Starwolf has enabled the
use of teleporters at the bases. One enables us to go from our gen room to
the flag and back. The other is a safety measure that resides on the lower
v-pad. It leads to a bomb shelter under the ground. Unfortunately, if the
teleporter should suffer damage, those inside will be trapped until it is
repaired. Hopefully, we can find a workaround for that, but time is short and
the enemy approaches.
Our planetary research teams have spent an exhaustive amount of time on
the lay of the land. They have sent reports of a large tunnel network that runs
through the central mountainous regions of our mission area. They have found
two entrance points, but seem to be convinced of a third. I hope they are right,
that could definitely work in our favor if true.
At least the flag base is completed. It is located on the slopes of the
central mountainous region. Should an enemy decide to ski down, they will be led
to a flat valley in front of our base. It is a difficult trek back to base across
the "flatlands" as we call them. Should they decide to go uphill, they will make
their way to the central objective point. If they own it we are toast,if not, they
are--unless they make use of the tunnels. If that happens, they could be gone....
Well, I better get back to work, it is almost night and I am hungry. What
I wouldnt do for what the ancients called a "hamburger" right now. None of those
"french fries" though. I hear they caused juggernitis..."

Pretty nice map... But I

They do help. The thing is,
by dr boom on October 24, 2002 Permalink · Rating:They do help. The thing is, the flags are close as far as a straight line goes, but the mountain separating them is tall and not quickly scaled. To go around takes some time. Control of the central objective is definitely key though. Capping did not prove that easy during testing. IMO it is actually pretty difficult, but I am not a great capper. It should give a challenge to most though.
okay, the tunnel reminds me
