Capture the Flag Other Clear Bots

Enjoy my second map, Ice Arena. It has very good bot support by default, they can capture the flag, they will take out your turrets/gens, and they can capture the flag. For anyone not interested in bot support this map should provide some fast paced and exciting gameplay. Snipers should have a great time on this map, and you heavy fans good luck, you might as well strap on your "bullseye" pack cause you are a sitting duck walking across this arena!

I just wanted to post something under here telling you that it's a .vl2 file, just extract to your Dynamix\Tribes2\GameData\Base folder for anyone who was wondering.

The thing I liked about this map is that my nostalgia senses were tingling. It reminded me a lot of those crazy, giant-room-esque indoor maps from Tribes 1...
The only problem is, this map doesnt quite pull it off as well. I mean, the first think you notice is that the map isn't much to look at. Ugly grey walls everywhere, but given the fact that they haven't released the WC tools yet, I'm gonna let that one slide. But the map is SO DAMN LAGGY! Ack, I was playing it on my own, and could barely move around. I could just imagine it with a bunch of other people. Yeesh.

A big fan of T1 maps this map resembles, but I hated this map. Lack of textures make this one ugly thing to play in. The use of walls and forcefields also caused my 64mb GTS card to lag quite a bit.

Interesting map. I've always been fond of the maps that do something a little different... especially with catwalks, large walls, etc.. But as with many of the maps I see people creating, there are little details that were overlooked... for instance, it's a completely enclosed arena, and yet you see sky at the other end because the end of the arena goes past the clipping plane... This is easy to fix, simply by removing sky textures and picking a good background and fog color. Sometimes the look and feel is as important as the gameplay. But I'm a nitpicker, I admit it. :)

The "Big Box" seemed like it took forever to cross, and the ramps up to the capturable platform were to high off the ground. I'm sure thats how you planned it, it just didn't quite fit that well with me.

I really liked this map, but then again I love playing the sniper. I think I got my highest kill count ever on this map. The author is right, about heavies on this map, I was able to pick them off long before they could get the range on their mortars right. The walkway in the center made for some great sniper battles. I was really disapointed to see the match come to an end, and haven't found another server playing on the map again yet.

I can't say I got much of a chance to play this map (I left the server that was running it VERY quickly), so I'm not going to flat-out condemn it.

Suffice it to say, however, that at first glance it looked as if Tribes 2 had decided to delete its texture files and make me reinstall. That's not the map's only problem, of course; beyond a SEVERE f.p.s. problem (which, admittedly, might well be my own fault), the base layout makes access to inventory stations difficult and the return trip even more so. The grey walls put the base structures entirely out of place, as well; flatter, greyer structures might have been better.

Suggestions: while playing "inside" a giant block may be vaguely amusing, the name "Ice Arena" is entirely misleading. Using an ice-like texture for the ground and walls with the same texture, along with some surface variation, WOULD create a feel of battling inside a block of ice. On the other hand, naming it "Concrete Arena" would be simpler - for that's exactly the feel I got from it.

On the other hand, once I WAS outfitted and got over the lack of ANYTHING to look at, and lowered some graphical settings a little to increase my f.p.s., the map's design DID lend itself to decent battle. But the problems mentioned above keep the map from being really playable, at least in my opinion.

Good map, not for scenery. A map with pure action. The Hangar in the center of the map is not that tactically crucial. I would suggest some mortar turrets then it would be better. There is gennerally 80\% Snipers 10\% Heavies and 10\% Assault/Light. The flags are rather difficult to get. The solar panel is where it should be but there should be more turrets. The detail is not well done, it seems that the whole area is one giant wherehouse. All in all a good, exciting map.

Ah yes Arena maps, just like from the good ol' T1 days. This is a great Arena map, and would be great for an Arena Map for T2. Game play is pretty good. This map is far greater than ur prevoius blunder, "Dont Look Down". Could have used a bit more structures.
-Bottom line, if you like arena maps, you'll love this map. This is worth the time to play it. Good job Gambit.

I like this map personaly, but I like the T1-styled arena maps. This map is only good for you if you are a fan of enclosed arena maps.
The basic map layout is fine though the center hanger is not that helpful(a few turrets and a way to repair that sensor would help). The textures are a little spotty and I wish there was a way to get rid of those annoying pop-ups. Over all a good map and a welcome addition to my hard drive.

Ahh... Reminds me of the Tribes 1 Map. Probably should make a arena map like them. Now that's a good idea! Why don't u.
