Capture the Flag Desert Clear

A great lake divides the battling tribes, its fairly deep and the use of vehicles is recommended to cross it. A key element that will help your team out is the capturable objective known as the, "Islands In The Sky". Upon reaching the switch, your team gains 2 inventory stations, a missile turret, and a medium sensor. All on platforms about 330m in the sky above the center of the lake. Perfect for stopping those bombers halfway to your base. The switch also gives you control of a small outpost on one side of the lake which has a medium sensor, plasma turret, repair pack, and inventory station. Always a nice place to visit for those long walks on the beach :P
Each base is equiped with 6 inventory stations, a missile turret, plasma turret, vehicle station, and a large sensor. Two solar panels on the roofs power all-slow forcefields
blocking the enterance to the flag and main generator bunkers.
Having these in working condition gives you that little extra time required to stop the capper.
I hope you enjoy, "Desert Ocean" It is my first completed CTF map and my second map. Have Fun! -Mccannon04

Here's the things I liked:
1) The water texture is unique
2) The design of the bases & beachside resort that you get w/ the objective

Things that could improve:
1) One of inferno's solar things is actually storm's, might want to fix that
2) The RT on the floating platform would be more useful if it was on the bottem of the platform where it can see the airspace that most craft would fly through

If anyone has that third shot in a larger resolution, please send it to me and I'll use it as the SOTW for Tribes2Review.com :D

did anyone have the problem of no terrain showing up? someone who was hosting it had no "earth" on theirs, you just kept sinking down. he downloaded it from somewhere else though.

I like this map mostly because it is one of the most innovative out there. Most maps are just strate forward cap the flag or have yours capped. But this on isnt like that. You can fight the fight for owning the Islands In The Sky. Or you can walk along with beach and destroy the panel which guards the flag as a cloakie. And then there are some of the more usual things to do. Like bombing and defending. One thing I did not like about it though, was that when you claimed the Islands In The Sky you would get a lil beach base that has just about no purpose. Still its one of my favorites.

Well, I think it was a damn fun idea dude (esp. the stacked static armors and objective), but there are a couple map glitches i would like to bring to light. First off, there's a small waterblock problem where the water cuts of MA somewhere near the mission area (fix this via the "Remove Wet Edges" tab), plus the common "Claimed 0 for Team" (fix this by adding a dynamic "name" field to the switch), and a few others. Btw, I think yer in one of my tribes... T-mail me if you are :)

HEHEHHEHEHHEH!!!!!! This is a great map! Many people don't like that if you take the thing up in the sky that you will be nuked. Well this is how you get past that. Get 3 snipers at the enemy V pad, and V pad snipe. The guys back at base will keep attacking, and cuz the enemy can't get any reinforcements up there you will get the high skys fast.

I truly wanted to give this an A+, I honestly did. I put this map on Houston Vehicles for a LONG time, and we played the hell out of it. However, I received so many complaints due to the mortar spam that would ensue that it had to be removed. There were even problems with people changing teams and kicking heavies in the objective. So sadly, I had to remove it. If you can move the bases further back, I'd slap it back on in a heart beat, I love it.
Good work.
